When I first began performing magic professionally, and for well over a decade after, I worked exclusively as a close-up magician. The stage held no attraction to me because I had never seen a stage performance match the impact and entertainment of a great close-up performance.

Fred Kaps was a Dutch magician (a world champion magician, in fact), famous for being the only magician ever to win the FISM Grand Prix three times (FISM is essentially the ‘Olympics’ for magicians). His personality, creativity, subtle comedic style, and virtuoso slight of hand abilities make him one of my favorite magicians.
